How to Care Bonsai Tree

Bonsai plants may be cultivated using many different species but when there comes a point of taking care of a bonsai tree, three things matter a lot : Water, Soil, Pot.

Knowing the exact proportion of water required by your bonsai tree, is the first most important part of bonsai care. Water is indeed a very basic element for your bonsai tree, since it gives oxygen to your bonsai, when it flows through the soil it adds in nutrients that are helpful for your bonsai growth, and at the same time it washes out the excess salts that may be harmful for your tree. Thus water is very important for your bonsai health. But here you should be careful about the amount of water, your bonsai needs. Bonsai tree does not only die when given less water but too much water can even damage it as well.

The second most important factor while taking care of a bonsai tree is 'Soil'. You should know this fact that different types of soil have different capacity to absorb water. Soil has thus a direct effect on your bonsai water consumption and its transpiration. So when you are up to bonsai tree care, you must be aware of the proper soil balance, along with the right amount of water, and air.

Another important factor in terms of bonsai care is its 'Location'. There are many verities of indoor as well as outdoor bonsai, but it is advisable to place them somewhere with sufficient air and light exposure. While placing bonsai, you must keep in mind that different bonsai have different lightening requirements. At the same time, make sure that bonsai never dries out completely.

To get a beautiful and healthy bonsai tree, you have to first work for the healthy root system, which is possible only when you give your bonsai tree a proper care from the very start. Always remember, proper watering is the most crucial part of bonsai care. Here you can follow the simple Japanese rule i.e. "water three times", once for the pot, once for the soil, and once for the tree. In other words, the first time you water, it is for the pot, the second time you water, it is for the soil to get moisture, and when the third time you water, it is actually for the tree, to make sure that it has got the ideal proportion of water. But make sure that every time you are giving your bonsai, a right amount of water. Too much of water can be as harmful as too little of it. Make sure that you are keeping the soil moist, rather than too much wet or over dry. As long as your tree is consuming the right amount of water, it is perfectly doing ok with its root growth system, ultimately, healthy roots lead to a healthy tree.
